"While Silver Threads Upholstery is new to Victoria Texas, the owner Vodie Brooks is certainly not new to the business. His training in his skillful trade began in 1980 while living in Amarillo Texas.  After completing a course for this particular profession, he soon found himself fortunate enough to know a local upholstery shop owner who was kind enough to let Mr. Brooks hang around his shop. This exposed him to many facets of the business and allowed him to become more diverse in other areas including aircraft upholstery projects, as he was also  an aircraft mechanic at the time.

In 1989 he moved his family to Port Arthur, and after living there for two years and working in non-related fields, he decided to open his own upholstery shop.  In addition to contracting work with local interior designers in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area, he also worked close with local refinishing companies, helping them with their projects when they needed someone to do upholstery work.
After moving to Victoria in 2000 to be closer to family, Vodie was soon hired by a local furniture company to oversee the work in their furniture repair department. This gave him the opportunity to further his skills in furniture repairs and refinishing.

Vodie has returned to operating his own business and is pleased to have opened his new upholstery shop "Silver Threads Upholstery" located on FM 236- the Upper Mission Valley Road."
